Those are oversimplified tags for anyone – especially a 25-year-old whose past three years have modulated between personal and professional loss and triumph. It was a lot, particularly for an athlete who did not join his high school baseball team until his junior year. Now, just seven years later, Anderson was in the second year of a $25 million contract, trying to support a family and justify the White Sox’s faith in him.Moss was just 23 when he was murdered. Anderson has memorialized him among the tattoos on his wrist – he points out a “B. Moss” jersey he wore for MLB’s Players’ Weekend in 2017 mixed among other symbols.
“None,” he says. “None. None. None. I wasn’t worried about that. I’ve got a lot more things to be worried about than where somebody’s going to sign.”
