Elon Musk has endorsed Kevin McCarthy for Speaker of the House, mere hours before the seventh, eighth and ninth ballots for the position once again failed to produce a winner.

Musk — who didn't vote in the 2022 midterm election after claiming he would vote Republican for the first time in his life, imploring his nearly 125 million Twitter followers to vote for Republicans and predicting a"red wave" that would give the party landslide victories in both chambers of Congress — tweeted that "Kevin McCarthy should be" House speaker early on Thursday morning.
After November's election, Republicans held 222 seats in the House. Democrats held 212, and the rival party has unanimously backed New York Rep.-elect Hakeem Jeffries on all seven ballots so far.
