Multiple Kroger stores in Northern Kentucky were evacuated on Saturday morning due to bomb threats. Hours later another location in Oakley was evacuated for a threat, as well.
The Bellevue Police Department confirmed that the Bellevue and Newport Kroger stores received bomb threats and were evacuated around 10:30 a.m.
Both stores were cleared of any threats about an hour and a half after evacuations. Staff and customers were back in the Newport Kroger just before noon. Staff re-entered the Bellevue location around 12:30 p.m. with customers following shortly after them. Kroger was reportedly giving $20 off to customers who were there when the threats happened. A Kroger corporate affairs manager says they're referring all questions to the police.
At approximately 1 p.m. a third bomb threat was called into another Kroger, this time at a location in Oakley.Bellevue Police said it believes the threats were part of a nationwide hoax that has been going on in recent months. They also said the FBI has been notified and they are looking into it.
