Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani reveals that she got some simple but very thoughtful advice from veteran MCU actor Samuel L. Jackson. Released on Disney+ earlier this year, the light-hearted series from creator Bisha K. Ali introduces Vellani's hero into the MCU for the first time. Ms. Marvel was met with positive reviews from audiences and critics alike, who praised the show's humor, emotion, and Vellani's charismatic leading performance.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Although the two actors didn't work together on Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan and Jackson's Nick Fury will seemingly share the screen in The Marvels, with Vellani now revealing that she asked her co-star for advice while on set. In a recent interview with AP Entertainment, Vellani shares that Jackson had some straightforward but powerful advice for her career as an actor.
"I remember when Sam Jackson was on set, I had this whole laundry list of questions for him. And I was asking him like, ‘What’s the best characteristic of an actor?’ Or something like that. And he was like, ‘Patience.’ I was like, ‘Yes, Sam, you’re right. Patience.’ And then after that, I never complained, ever.
In the immediate future, however, Vellani's hero is expected to play a fairly prominent role in The Marvels, a sequel to the 2019 film starring Brie Larson as Carol Danvers. As was teased in the post-credits scene for Ms. Marvel, the upcoming Phase 5 MCU adventure is expected to follow Larson's Captain Marvel, Kamala, and Monica Rambeau as they begin swapping places every time they use their powers, leading the three heroes to team up.
Beyond her role in The Marvels, it's unclear what is next for Kamala. With the MCU having now introduced several younger heroes, it's possible that Vellani's character could find herself as a member of the Young Avengers alongside others like Ironheart , Kate Bishop , America Chavez , and Skaar , and others. For now, however, both Ms. Marvel and Vellani seem to have bright futures ahead of them.
