Fire officials said there could have been a 'major catastrophe' if a fire had reached the gasoline.
Chief Inspector Scott Small told the Inquirer that the gasoline, an accelerant, created the potential for “a major catastrophe,” especially due to the hot summer temperatures and the history of fires at the home.
Tuesday morning, a fire was reported at the home, which was under control by 10:30 a.m., the Inquirer reported.There was no cause of the fire immediately reported. A man who said the house was owned by his family told the station that he is innocent and doesn’t know where the fuel came from, 6abc reported. Authorities confirmed the man is a person of interest in the case.
Neighbors told the station there is an ongoing feud between the man and neighbors, and that the tensions flared after the gasoline was removed from the home.Fire crews responded to the same home in March, officials told news outlets. No arrests had been made as of Tuesday.
