Keep your wits — and your umbrellas ☔️ — about you today. More severe weather is in the cards: alwx
It was a stormy night for many in Alabama, and more storms will be possible today. The areas in orange have a Level 3 out of 5 risk for severe weather. The areas in yellow have a Level 2 risk, and the areas in dark green have a Level 1 risk. Damaging winds and hail are the main concerns, but a tornado is not out of the question. That comes after a very busy overnight that saw multiple severe thunderstorm warnings and a tornado warning for areas mainly in south Alabama.
NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center is maintaining a Level 3 out of 5 risk for severe weather for parts of east and south Alabama in anticipation of more storms developing and becoming severe starting later this morning ahead of a cold front. Storms aren’t a sure thing, however. The weather service will be watching to see if the atmosphere can “recover” from this morning’s activity, which took some of the juice out of the environment.
