The new Honest Trailer pokes fun at Roland Emmerich's disaster movie Moonfall. Emmerich is no stranger to the disaster genre, having previously directed Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and 2012. Moonfall is Emmerich's most recent attempt at destroying Earth with a star-studded cast, including Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, Donald Sutherland, Michael Peña, and John Bradley.
Critics were not kind to Moonfall when it was released in February, as the film earned a 38% Rotten rating from Rotten Tomatoes. However, poor reviews are par for the course regarding Emmerich's filmography, which only features two Fresh rated movies, Independence Day and The Patriot. Despite the less than stellar reviews, audiences seemed to enjoy the spectacle of Moonfall, which is often the case with Emmerich's bombastic disaster movies.
It's now been a few months since the movie debuted in theaters, which means it has another shot at reaching audiences. Moonfall is currently available on VOD and Blu-ray for anyone looking to give the film a shot. And, if reviews are to be believed, it's at least mindless fun. However, given the film's failure, Emmerich's future in the disaster genre may be in jeopardy. But, for now, audiences can have a good laugh with the Moonfall Honest Trailer.
