Montgomery County Precinct 4 sergeant injured in scuffle with wanted man during traffic stop, authorities say - KPRC2 Hounews HTX

The traffic stop happened at 1:30 p.m. Authorities said the sergeant pulled over Easton Isaacks, 21, of Mont Belvieu, for alleged speeding near the intersection of Tram Road and Rio Vista Boulevard. The sergeant checked Isaacks’ identification and learned he had an active felony warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and family violence in Harris County, according to a news release about the stop.

Law enforcement said as the sergeant went to detain Isaacks for his warrant, he quickly pulled away. The sergeant managed to grab Isaacks to prevent him from fleeing, but authorities claim he began resisting all attempts to detain him. Authorities said after a brief struggle, which resulted in both the sergeant and the male going to the ground, the sergeant was able to arrest Isaacks for his warrant, as well as a new resisting charge. During the investigation, law enforcement said they found a loaded handgun and narcotics in the vehicle, which resulted in additional charges for Isaacks. The sergeant injured his knee during the encounter with Isaacks. He is expected to be okay and return to duty after recovery.

“Those ‘routine traffic stops’ that everyone talks about are rarely routine,” said Constable Kenneth Hayden, “This is a perfect example of the dangers law enforcement face every day. I’m proud of our sergeant for ending this dangerous situation without anyone getting seriously hurt…or worse.”
