Moment Carnival Row actor Orlando Bloom tells Ukrainian president to 'go win' the war
British actor Orlando Bloom has praised the strength of the Ukrainian people in a meeting with the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, where he told him to “go win” the war. Bloom, 46, who is a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador, travelled to Kyiv in his first visit back to Ukraine since 2016.
Mr Zelensky told Bloom “we have a good country, we hold each other”, and added that the Carnival Row actor's presence in the country "sends a big message”. Bloom, who has been a member of a Buddhist organisation since he was 16, read an excerpt of a message of encouragement from his Japanese mentor who wrote to the youth of the UK in 1994.
At the end of the meeting, Bloom said he has a video of his mother singing the Ukrainian national anthem in English and she said if he met Mr Zelensky to tell him to win. “Go win” he said, “Slava Ukraine”
