The Diamondbacks have the most outfield range in the major leagues and enough upside plays on the pitching side — plus fewer games against the Dodgers and Padres — to predict with a high degree of certainty that they’ll improve on last year’s 74-88 record. Sure, they have the look of a team that is a year away from contending. But they wouldn’t be the first young club to arrive a year ahead of schedule.The Guardians will show that last season’s 92-70 record was no fluke.
