Both the new"Edge" edition of the standard Ubuntu form of Mint and the completed version 6 of the Debian Bookworm-based Linux Mint Debian Edition are here.when the beta was announced in the first half of September. Now the final version is here, but the good news is that it's basically indistinguishable.
If you feel that life is too short for running beta versions of operating systems, we are entirely sympathetic. The Linux world moves quickly enough as it is, without adding additional causes for concern such as unfinished OSes. Both are now available for free as complete, finalized releases., but with Mint's additional level of polish. It arrives as a 2.
The Mint 21.2 Edge desktop defaults to a slightly resolution than LMDE in VirtualBox… but it still doesn't include, or offer, the guest additions Both Edge and LMDE offer only the Cinnamon desktop, and both have the same friendly Welcome screen and the same Software Manager. Both come with Flatpak support installed, but no Flatpak packages present. In fact, on looks alone, they're almost indistinguishable: only the distro name at the bottom-right corner of the Welcome screen gives any hint that these are different OSes, based on different distros. There are differences under the hood.
