Michael Beale has agreed personal terms with Rangers and is set to be unveiled as their new manager.

Rangers are paying the £1.5million release clause in Beale’s QPR contract to bring Steven Gerrard’s former assistant back to Ibrox.AdvertisementBeale, 42, will succeedafter losing all six Champions League games and going nine points behind rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership. His move to Rangers comes just under two months after he said he was committed to staying at QPR after turning down an approach from Wolves –Beale was Gerrard’s assistant when Rangers became Scottish champions for the 55th time, denying Celtic a tenth league title in a row in the process.

He then followed Gerrard to Aston Villa in November 2021 as his number two, before moving into management and taking the QPR job in the summer. The Hoops currently sit in 7th place in the Championship, after a slip in form of four losses in five league games saw them drop out of the promotion spots.Topics
