The change in the terror threat level follows the shooting of a police officer in Co Tyrone last month .Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris cited a “small number” of individuals who remain determined to use “politically motivated violence”.Last month Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell, 48, was shot multiple times in front of his young son in Co Tyrone, where he coaches a youth football team.
Northern Ireland police confirmed they are treating the shooting of an off-duty police officer as terrorist-related.
