Unlike other metal detectors, Opengate does not require people to take off their bags or empty their pockets before passing through. These systems are about five times more powerful than traditional metal detectors, said Genaro Cavazos, president of protection-services firm GXC, which provided the systems to the fair.Opengate is being increasingly used in school systems across the country, as well as large sporting events.
