Heavy rain is forecast to batter Liverpool
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning as heavy rain is set to batter Liverpool and beyond.
Forecasters are warning the severe downpours could cause "flooding" and "disruption" on Saturday night and into Sunday morning . Met Office experts said: "There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray and standing water, leading to longer journey times by car and bus. "Delays to train services are possible. Some flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible, leading to some damage to buildings or structures."Further guidance reads: "Following heavy showers on Friday night that produced 30-50 mm of rain in places, further heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to affect a similar area on Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
"Whilst not all locations will see heavy rainfall, some places may see 25-35 mm of rain in 3-6 hours overnight. Showers will ease through Sunday morning and become largely dry." The weather warning is in place from 9.20pm today until 9am on Sunday, and stretches across Merseyside, as well as parts of Cheshire.
