The warning covers many areas across Lancashire
An amber "extreme heat" warning issued by the Met Office, covering part of Lancashire, has now been extended into Tuesday and will last 72 hours.
It has been said that these high temperatures could pose a "danger to life" and lead to "widespread impacts on people and infrastructure". The warning will come into force at midnight on Sunday and last until 11.59pm on Tuesday .The Amber warning, which has been issued for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, highlights likely adverse health effects for the public, not just limited to those most vulnerable to extreme heat.
The Met Office has said to expect population-wide adverse health effects that are not limited to those most vulnerable to extreme heat, which could lead to potential serious illness or danger to life. Government advice is that 999 services should be used in emergencies only; seek advice from 111 if you need non-emergency health advice.
