Thousands of holidaymakers are once again flocking to Butlin's, Skegness. Founded in 1936 by Billy Butlin, it was the UK's first holiday camp. Attracting 400,000 visitors per year it's never gone out of fashion and is as popular now as it was 86 years ago. But times have certainly changed, as some of these photos show.
Instead of knobbly knee and beauty competitions, there's adrenalin-fuelled outdoor activities and tons of indoor entertainment. A day-long programme of events includes laser tag, silent cinema, Peppa Pig, circus shows, discos and karaoke. A spokesman said:"We’re all about offering full-on fun for all the family and position ourselves as the home of entertainment. We’ve announced lots of news for exciting projects coming to Skegness next year – Skypark – our amazing £2.5m playground, incredible 2023 entertainment line-up with an exclusive show from The Masked Singer Live and then there’s our new look fairground."
