Donald Trump was saved from embarrassment on Monday by his wife Melania when she reminded him that a statue they were shown at Buckingham Palace by the Queen had in fact been gifted by the American president and his consort of last year's visit to the UK.Mr Trump was being shown around a gallery at the palace of American artefacts when he was asked by Queen Elizabeth whether he recognised the pewter horse, to which he replied 'No'.
There was also a copy of a telegram which was sent to George VI, the queen's father, from General Dwight Eisenhower after Allied forces had landed in Normandy on D-Day in June 1944.
