Thomas Markle, the estranged father of Meghan Markle, is weighing in on the duchess's departure from royal life.
Thomas Markle, 75, appears in a British documentary titled Thomas Markle: My Story, in which he shares his perspective on daughter Meghan and son-in-law Prince Harry’s recent announcement that they will step down from their royal responsibilities and move to Canada. Markle expressed his distaste for the situation, claiming they are “cheapening” their role and"turning it into a Walmart with a crown," the BBC reports.
"It's disappointing because she actually got every girl's dream," he added."Every young girl wanted to become a princess and she got that and now she's tossing that away, for, it looks like she's tossing that away for money." Markle’s correspondence with his daughter is at the center of a lawsuit filed by the royals against the U.K. tabloid which leaked the private messages.
