Manvel's youngest elected mayor, Dan Davis Jr. talks taxes and plans for the city
Dan Davis, Jr., 30, became Manvel's youngest elected mayorin which he received over 64 percent of the votes in a three-person race, according to unofficial results.
Davis said his experience on the council, where he consistently voted against increasing the property tax rate, prepared him for this role.decided not to run for re-election, it really came down to — if not me, then who?" he said. Davis said that during his three-year term, he would like to focus on maintaining roads and improving drainage in the city of 17,780 residents. He said he'll also focus on government accountability and transparency.
The city must update its 8-year-old comprehensive plan by bringing in key stakeholders for tough conversations, Davis said."It is a wildly inappropriate time do that," Davis said."During the past few years, there's so many businesses and household that have been asked to live within their means. Governmental entities across our state have been abusing the authority granted to them by the state and raising taxes on their citizens.
