Cheddar News quietly laid off a handful of video producers as its newsroom reels from continued defections and organizational changes

Cheddar News quietly laid off half a dozen staffers who formerly worked on its highly-regarded YouTube team creating original video content, Insider has learned.in early April, according to three current and former Cheddar employees with direct knowledge of the cuts who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak with reporters.
Laid-off employees were notified in late March about the cuts, said one of the people, a former Cheddar employee, who added:"We all knew even before then that it was kind of a sinking ship," describing sentiments among newsroom personnel and on-air talent. Following the teams' reassignments, this person said, some producers were hoping to create content that had an educational documentary feel, whereas management pushed them to focus on"drama and glamour" and tension.
