With Deadpool 3 set to seemingly carry on Wade Wilson’s story in the MCU, Marvel Studios can fix a Fox X-Men mistake through the Avengers.
Deadpool 3 is currently scheduled for a November 2024 release date, with Marvel having the opportunity to rectify a Fox X-Men mistake through the use of their flagship team: the Avengers. With Deadpool 3 promising to be the MCU's first R-rated movie, continuing the same story from Deadpool and Deadpool 2 in the meta way only Wade Wilson makes possible, the transition from one franchise to the next will be interesting to see.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Aside from his planned team-up with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, there's no other word on exactly what Marvel plans to do with Reynolds' character in Deadpool 3. Obviously, coexisting in a universe that includes Spider-Man, Daredevil, the Avengers, and the Guardians of the Galaxy gives Marvel no shortage of options to explore, not only in Deadpool 3, but also in his future after the Multiverse Saga.
While this worked for the stories of both Deadpool and Deadpool 2, the latter film featured cameos from the young X-Men team found in the "prequel" series that began with X-Men: First Class. This hinted at potential crossovers with Deadpool in the future, which Dark Phoenix - the only mainline X-Men movie after this - failed to pay off. The same can be said with X-Men: Apocalypse which was released a year after Deadpool, failing to involve the latter character in its proceedings.
Deadpool Joining The Avengers Would Make His MCU Involvement Better While Deadpool does not immediately stand out as a perfect candidate for the Avengers, it would make his MCU inclusion much better. With Deadpool 3 continuing the character's story in Marvel's Phase 6, it is safe to assume he will be a big part of the overarching story of the MCU's Multiverse Saga, given his transition from one universe to another.
This importance could be realized through Deadpool playing a part in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or Avengers: Secret Wars. Perhaps not as an official member of the team, Deadpool could be used akin to how the Guardians and Doctor Strange fit into Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, as these were characters who helped in the fighting but weren't official Avengers members.
