McTominay's delve into the four-part Beckham documentary is another example of the kind of character he is. He's been a part of the club since he was five and just gets it.
Just 'getting it' clearly isn't enough to make a career at United, but it is essential that at least some of the squad features academy graduates. Over the previous decade, the soul of United has shrunk, through a woeful period on the pitch and the failed, futile ownership of the absent Glazer family.
