Golf stars Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry have hailed Ireland's "incredible" rugby fans after watching Saturday's World Cup win over South Africa.
Around 80,000 rugby fans packed into the stadium, the majority of which appeared to be cheering on the Irish.McIlroy and Lowry were guests on ex-Scotland rugby international Jim Hamilton’s RugbyPass TV program, ‘ The Big Jim Show: LIVE ’. "Hopefully that support can carry them all the way in this tournament. The last thing that’s happened in Ireland that would be as big as them winning a World Cup was this man [Lowry] winning the Open Championship in Portrush in 2019.Lowry - who like McIlroy is a massive rugby fan - joked that Ireland was a "great country to jump on a bandwagon".
