Grammy-award winning singer Maxwell brought his 25-city tour to Houston on Friday with singers Joe and Anthony Hamilton.

I've waited for this chance to emerge from social distancing and experience music that moves my soul in a crowded stadium.
"The Night Tour" was the perfect setting. Houston was part of this 25-city tour that is giving R&B and neo-soul fans a trip down memory lane."We're getting back into the swing of things," Maxwell told the near-capacity audience. It felt good, too. Joe opened the show with high energy and with his classics, like"I Wanna Know,""All the Things ," and "Don't Wanna Be a Player." He gave a full hour of soul and heart. Then Anthony Hamilton delivered in equal fashion with his signature down-home soul that included favorites like,"Charlene" and more.
Maxwell, a three-time Grammy winner, rounded out the night with"Pretty Wings,""Ascension,""Lifetime" and"Sumthin' Sumthin'."It felt comforting to hear him perform again and to be out at a live concert again. I'm certain others in the audience felt the same. Many of us have been Maxwell fans since he emerged in 1996 with his first album,"Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite.
With each of his albums, we've soaked up his sound and lyrics and made the songs part of our playlist to life. But like Sade and other artists, Maxwell has known when to pull back from the scene and take nice long breaks between music projects.Joy Sewing
