The final round of the Masters was the most-watched golf telecast on any network in five years, CBS announced Tuesday. Sunday's final round averaged 12.1 million viewers, up 19 percent from last year.
The most interesting about the viewership number is the why? Were viewers excited to watch a marathon morning-afternoon golf session on Sunday after the weather delays? How much was Easter a factor? Did LIV golfers doing well impact the viewership? The answer is likely yes to
all. Those were all factors, though it’s impossible to know what the biggest driver was, especially since Rahm pulled away from the field late.The viewership is a big jump from last year’s final round number, and very good news for the Masters given the lows of 2020 and 2021 .
