Video shows the roof gone from engulfed Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris

2:12 p.m. EDT: Although local French media reported that the blaze was related to renovation work on the cathedral, James R. Waters, the New York Police Department's chief of counterterrorism, tweeted that his department was"closely monitoring the fire" in Paris.2.05pm ET: A reporter with France 24 said that the cathedral's"roof has entirely collapsed; there are flames coming out the back of the cathedral as if it was a torch.
"So horrible to watch the massive fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Perhaps flying water tankers could be used to put it out. Must act quickly!" he wrote. Last year, the Catholic Church in France launched an appeal for funds to renovate the 850-year-old structure. Officials suggested that the blaze could be linked to renovation work underway on the structure.
