Water Resources Authority says its water quality monitoring system shows no change in water quality or signs of contamination
- Massachusetts State Police say there's been no sign of water tampering after three broken outer latches were found earlier Monday - and an attempt to cut a fourth - along the Hultman Aqueduct in Framingham.Diane Lynch lives right near the aqueduct and says she saw a state trooper sitting by the entrance to the aqueduct. Other neighbors reported seeing the state police helicopter in the air.
The aqueduct is one of two main underground transmission lines that carry drinking water from the treatment plant in Marlborough to the greater Boston area. In a statement, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority says,"MWRA's real-time water quality monitoring shows no change in water quality nor any sign of contamination."
The hatches allow MWRA officials to directly access the pipeline but Mass. State police says their investigation found no evidence of any other crime of vandalism and that"there is no evidence of any further attempts made to defeat additional security measures in place at those access points. Another resident, Jack Ellison says he feels a little more uneasy especially after seven people were caught trespassing at the Quabbin reservoir last month. State police said there was no evidence of terrorism in that incident or any other crime.
