The Money Saving Expert founder is reminding those over the state pension age to check if they are eligible for Pension Credit
We need all the money we can get lately and with that in mind, Martin Lewis has warned that 800,000 people could be missing out on an additional benefit they are entitled to.
He added: "I would say the most important thing is we stop the 800,000 people who aren’t claiming Pension Credit. We should work a lot harder and automate the fact that people who are due Pension Credit, those are the lowest income pensioners, get their Pension Credit, that should be our priority."The benefit is additional payments for those over state pension age and on low income. The MoneySavingExpert.
Anyone who receives Pension Credit is entitled to extra support ike housing benefit, free TV licence and council tax support. Mr Lewis added that people may be eligible for "a bit more Pension Credit either due to the Savings Credit or due to a disability".
