Mandy Moore has reacted to ThisIsUs only receiving one Emmys2022 nomination in a new post, saying she'd hoped the show would be recognized in its 'finest hour' and praising its writer, director, cast and crew.
Mandy Moore has addressed This Is Us being snubbed in the 2022 Emmy Award nominations. Since its start in 2016, Moore has played Rebecca, the overall protagonist and mother of three on This Is Us. The actor received a Golden Globe nomination in 2017 and Emmy Award nomination in 2019 for her role in the drama series.
In the final This Is Us season 6, Moore was praised for her heartbreaking performance as Rebecca dealt with Alzheimer's disease. The performance caused both audiences and Moore's co-stars to call for another Emmy nod for the actor, with many taking to social media, and Brown posting on Instagram to ardently support his cast mate. Brown went as far to say that “anybody who votes” within the Television Academy should give Moore an Emmy in 2022.
Although This Is Us didn’t receive as many nominations despite effective plot twists and lauded performances, Moore has a strong point in saying that a lack of award nominations do not take away from the mark a show leaves on viewers, as well as herself and her co-stars. Hopefully, there will be some solace for This Is Us if the nominated song, sung by Moore’s Rebecca in the show, wins out at the 2022 Emmys.
