Greater Manchester Police said it has a large team based at the airport as 1,505 crimes were reported in 2022
Manchester Airport had the third highest number of crimes per passenger out of 21 UK international airports in 2022, figures have revealed. A total of 1,505 crimes were reported at the airport last year.
Superintendent Helen Caldbeck, GMP's commander for Manchester Airport, said: "Greater Manchester Police has a large team based at the airport including neighbourhood officers, response teams, intelligence officers, its own CID and, uniquely at GMP, armed and unarmed officers. A spokesperson for Manchester Airport added: “As the UK’s global gateway in the North, tens of thousands of passengers start their holidays from Manchester Airport every day. Thankfully, reported incidents of criminal or anti-social behaviour remain extremely rare: 0.006 reported incidents per 100 passengers.
