A man left suffering from horrendous testicular pain for six years thanked the Daily Record for helping him get surgery amidst a growing shortage of top doctors.
Martin Brown, 52, from Musselburgh told how the wait made his life "hell". He suffered severe testicular pain for six years before he finally got his operation when the Daily Record stepped in. Martin was first diagnosed with the problem in 2017 and was referred to a consultant urologist the following year but it took a further three years to get an appointment.Two years ago he was given an x-ray in relation to a hernia and two days later when it was examined by a urologist he said he had found minimal blood flow to his testicle, that a lump had been detected in it and it would have to be removed.Martin described the pain as if he was “being kicked between the legs every time I move”.
We contacted the then Health Secretary Humza Yousaf who said his wait had been “unacceptable”, apologised for the delay and promised the backlogs would be cleared as quickly as possible.Last night he said: “I really appreciate everything the Daily Record did for me. I had my operation in March, not long after my story appeared.“I get up in the morning with a smile and that’s thanks to you. If you hadn’t done the story I don’t like to think where I’d be right now. I am forever grateful.
