A man who had so many health issues he was told to ‘never run’ has now become the oldest Brit to complete 100 marathons.
He went on to run an average of 12-and-a-half marathons a year after that, including his most recent one at Caldecotte Lake in Milton Keynes last Saturday.MarathonThe remarkable feat includes nine 33-mile ultra-marathons, two of which he won three days apart against super-fit runners half his age.Martin, from Allestree, Derby, told about his journey with fitness after having done little-to-no exercise throughout his life.
‘Then in my 20s I suffered two collapsed lungs, once while running for a bus and then one day quite inexplicably when I was cooking bacon. ‘At that point I was registered as disabled and had a green card, so exercising was never on my mind until I got a bit older into my 50s.
