Man who shed 20 stone feels 'insecure' over loose skin - and can't get surgery on the NHS
A man who lost more than 20 stone is "devastated" after being told he could not have skin removal surgery on the NHS.
Wayne Shepherd, 40, first had gastric sleeve surgery in June last year to help him lose weight. He said his understanding before the surgery was that he would be able to have further procedures afterwards to remove the excess skin. Wayne, from Soham, Cambridgeshire, was referred from Addenbrooke's Hospital to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth for the gastric sleeve surgery - which was a success. But he said he has since been told by his doctor that he does not qualify for funding and therefore cannot have skin removal surgery, reports CambridgeshireLive. Now, Wayne feels so insecure that he doesn't leave the house without his arms and body covered.
