A man who shot and killed his wife in their Denver home has been sentenced to 48 years in prison.
Phillip Bivins was sentenced on Friday by District Court Judge Christopher Baumann, according to a district attorney’s office news release.About 22 hours after the shooting, Bivins walked into Denver Police District Station Two and told officers that he had been involved in a shooting.
In March, after deliberating for five and a half hours, aTia Bivins, 42, was an organizer and union leader with the Service Employees International Union Local 105. Union colleagues, at the time of her death, described Tia on Facebook as a mother, grandmother and a “true warrior for working people.”
