Steve Braucht said the victim used pepper spray on the man in self defense, walked away and called 911.The alleged assailant went after his neighbor and caused some sort of damage to his fence, Braucht said.
When officers arrived, the man walked out of his home. Braucht said officers instructed the man to get on the ground, but he did not comply, so he was shot in his right hand and left thigh with 40 mm “sponge” rounds. The man was taken to a hospital and was expected to be booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats and vandalism, Braucht said.
Neighborhood residents in recent months had called police to report that the man had been verbally abusive, Braucht said.
