Elliott scaled the peak of the mountain
A man who came back from the brink of a mental health crisis after bottling up his feelings for years has embarked on a new mission inspired by Speedo Mick.
He said: "It all started when I was 17. From a young age I didn't really know where I wanted to go with my life, I didn't know what path I wanted and I would beat myself up about it. I kept it quiet and wouldn't speak to anyone about it. I just kept it all bottled up. But I now realised it's 100% the best thing to get help instead of bottling up and hiding from your own emotions.
"At the start of 2023, I just knew I needed help. I knew I couldn't go on the way I was going on. That's when I decided to see the crisis team; I went to the GP and was prescribed medication but I wasn't feeling well at all. I took an overdose, went into hospital, and when I came out the crisis team came to see me every day. I started seeing a counsellor, learning how to cope.
Now determined to help other people struggling with depression, Elliott embarked on two walks for Mind, the mental health charity. Inspired by Speedo Mick, he walked 26 miles from Halewood to Southport, and scaled the peak of Mount Snowdon wearing just a bathing suit and cowboy hat.
