A man is in a serious but stable condition after he was attacked by a car passenger"for an unknown reason" in Greenock.
Police are treating the incident, which took place at around 12.20am on Easter Monday in Bawhirley Road near to Bellville Avenue, as attempted murder. The 32-year-old victim was walking with another man and two women when a car drove up next to them. The passenger then got out of the vehicle before attacking him. The vehicle then sped off.Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. No-one else was injured.
Detective Sergeant Grant Bowie, of Greenock CID, said:"The group was approached by the occupants of the car when, for an unknown reason, the passenger got out and attacked one of the men. "At this time, we are not sure whether the suspect returned to the vehicle or not so if you saw anyone running from the street then please contact police.
