UPDATE: Dashboard video of the Interstate 70 crash and shooting posted online shows a silver truck swerved from the right lane toward a car in the second from the left lane. At least two gunshots were captured on camera.
A gunman in a silver truck shot and killed another motorist while driving down Interstate 70 in Denver late Sunday, police said Monday.
Officers responded to a call of a shooting and crash at 11 p.m. Sunday in the westbound lanes of I-70 near the Northfield/Quebec exit, according to a news release from the Denver Police Department. Investigators believe a suspect shot at another vehicle, striking the man driving the vehicle. The gunshot victim, identified by police as 31-year-old Kevin Piaskowski, was transported to a hospital where he later died.
Denver police spokesman Doug Schepman confirmed the video showed the Sunday shooting and said it is part of the investigators’ case. Police are still working to determine what prompted the shooting, he said. The suspect and other occupants of the stolen silver Dodge truck fled the scene on foot before police could arrest them.
