A man killed in a house fire on the North Side earlier this week has been identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner.The fire happened just after 7:30 a.m., Tuesday in the 1000 block of West Summit Avenue.
The fire was called in just after 7:30 a.m. at a home in the 1000 block of West Summit Avenue, not far from Interstate 10 and Blanco Road. The SAFD said a couple lived at the home and the wife was awake when the fire started downstairs. Her husband, a man in his 80s, was asleep upstairs and she was unable to get him out of the house, firefighters said.
Ramiro Villarreal lives down the street from the home that burned. He said the man who died in the home had lived there for over sixty years.
