Man in court on manslaughter charge after death of Joshua Hughes outside Lancaster's Glow nightclub
A man has appeared in court charged with manslaughter after a man died following a fight outside a Lancaster nightclub.
Joshua Hughes, 22, died from a head injury when he fell to the ground during the incident outside Glow, in Dalton Square, on June 12, 2022. Emergency services were called to the scene at 4:30am and Mr Hughes, from Morecambe was taken to hospital in a critical condition.READ MORE: Couple who lied about M61 crash that killed schoolgirl will not have their sentences increased
Following an investigation by Lancashire Police, Sean Orrell, 32, of Wigan Road, Leigh, was charged with manslaughter. He appeared before Preston Magistrates' Court today . During the hearing, Orrell spoke only to confirm his identity and agree he understood the proceedings. Magistrates said the matter was so serious it can only be dealt with at the crown court and set a date for Orrell to enter his plea on May 18, 2023.
Orrell was granted bail on the condition he does not enter the city of Lancaster. He was ordered to attend Preston Crown Court next month for the plea hearing.
