Court papers state Strachan had possession of a 0.30 calibre rimfire revolver.Strachan was further snared with ammunition which was six 0.43 pinfire cartridges and five 0.32 rimfire cartridges.
Strachan also held diamorphine in the cupboard of former co-accused Amanda Day, 47, which police officers raided.He was also convicted of possessing ammunition without holding a firearm certificate.Strachan - who previously did not have a lawyer - was represented by Graeme Brown at the sentencing.Judge Alistair Brown said:"Both of these revolvers were said to be in working order and the ammunition suitable for them was locked in a cupboard which was the address of your previous co-accused.
Strachan was also granted leave 17 times in two years while he was locked up in the open prison Castle Huntly near Dundee. A court heard during a previous curfew breach hearing that he was allowed to do the school run, throw a birthday party and celebrate Christmas with his son.
