Man arrested in Hillcrest after standoff; suspect accused of threatening person with bat [Breaking]
Following a 45-minute standoff, San Diego police officers tackled and arrested a man accused of threatening someone with a baseball bat in Hillcrest on Tuesday morning, police said.
The man then left in a vehicle. An officer spotted the vehicle nearby and stopped it on Eighth Avenue near University Avenue, but the man refused to step out and surrender, Ramsay said.Video from OnScene TV shows the suspect sitting in the driver’s seat of a pickup, pulled up to the curb in an angled parking spot on Eighth Avenue. At times he yells obscenities at officers. Several times he rolls up the window.
During the incident, police discovered the man was wanted in connection with a robbery in National City, Ramsay said. The lieutenant said he did not know further details about the alleged offense.
