The sheriff’s department is still working to notify family members and has not yet released the name of the individual.
High Falls Park is located near Lookout Mountain in DeKalb County and features a 35-foot waterfall, a swimming area and hiking trails. The incident isn’t the first death to occur at the park.
In 2017, 18-year-old Mason Tompkins died after he jumped from a rock into a creek and failed to resurface. Rescue squads later found the teen’s body not far from where he had jumped, according to the Associated Press.
