Issues on the M61 this morning
All traffic was held at 8.30am for around 20 minutes. Two of the three lanes remain closed as police and paramedics respond.
National Highways North West reports around five miles of congestion on approach to the incident. It is adding around 30 minutes to journey times in the area. No details have been released about the number of vehicles involved or if any injuries have been sustained.Traffic alert service Inrix reports:
One lane closed, exit slip road partially blocked and queueing traffic due to accident on M61 Northbound at J9 M65 . Traffic was held between 08:30 and 08:45, however lane one is closed as well as part of the exit slip road.Here is the latest traffic map of the area from the showing the exact location of the congestion:
