M3GAN is turning in a huge result in its second weekend at the box office. The film, which debuted on January 6, is a collaboration between Blumhouse and James Wan's company Atomic Monster. It follows a young robotics engineer named Gemma who becomes the guardian for her recently orphaned niece Cady .

At its current projections, the film's 3-day total will reach $17.5 million, with the holiday Monday bringing in an additional $3.2 million, bringing its cumulative domestic gross up to $59.2 million.
If M3GAN is a portent of things to come, 2023 is a good year indeed for the horror genre. The fact that the film can become such a massive hit off a completely original idea means that the franchise horror pictures that are on their way will likely experience a huge boom as well.
Is M3GAN 2 Happening Or What? With the film continuing to turn out stellar box office results, it's a shock that Blumhouse hasn't already announced a sequel to M3GAN. While Blumhouse and Atomic Monster have revealed their confidence in the killer doll flick's success being replicable by officially extending their partnership with the upcoming 2024 film Night Swim, M3GAN 2's green light is still pending.
