This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: Dark Droids - D-Squad #1 While Luke Skywalker is perhaps the greatest Jedi in the history of Star Wars canon , and was the first stage in the resurgence of the Jedi Order following its fall during the Clone Wars era, he has made his fair share of mistakes, including and especially when it comes to Kylo Ren.
As shown in Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi, Luke Skywalker snuck into Ben Solo’s cabin with the intention of ending his life during his time as Ben’s master years before the events of the sequel trilogy. Luke sensed that Ben was strong with the dark side, and he couldn’t risk another ‘Vader’ or ‘Palpatine’ rising up in the galaxy after so recently extinguishing the Sith from the cosmos.
Luke Skywalker Made An Enemy Of Ajax Sigma Just As He Did With Kylo Ren In the Star Wars: Dark Droids - D-Squad #1 story “The Book of Ajax” by Marc Guggenheim and David Messina, the droid revolutionary Ajax Sigma returns to the moon on which he was ‘killed’ during his ancient battle against the Jedi during the age of the High Republic. Upon being ‘reborn’, Ajax wanted to return to the place where his revolution died, and that’s where he found one of the last Jedi in existence: Luke Skywalker.
While it doesn’t seem likely Ajax Sigma will be as much of a danger to the galaxy as Kylo Ren was, this similar mistake made by Luke Skywalker was still a damaging one. In the current Star Wars continuity, the galaxy is under attack by the Scourge - an AI hivemind working to assimilate every droid and cyborg in the galaxy. Ajax Sigma is a champion of droid autonomy, making the Scourge his natural enemy.
One would think Luke would have learned from his mistake with Ajax Sigma and wouldn’t have done the same thing with Kylo Ren, though obviously, one would be wrong, making this familiar Star Wars scene a moment that foreshadowed Luke Skywalker’s ultimate mistake .
