Everton will return to Women's Super League action against Brighton & Hove Albion at Walton Hall Park this weekend

Everton wing-back Lucy Hope believes honing a winning mentality could be key to helping the Blues realise their domestic ambitions this term.

"For us internally we don’t really feel like the goalposts have changed much from last year," Hope told the ECHO. "The platform there has been set and now it’s just about building on that.READ MORE: Inside story behind Everton transfer as new forward out to emulate Zlatan Ibrahimovic Hope was one of Everton's most consistent performers last term, having swapped her usual midfield berth for a place at right-wing-back. It was a positional change she relished, and the 26-year-old hopes to continue making the role her own in the season to come.

Hope's impressive form on the pitch last season was matched by her drive and focus of it. As a result, the Scotland international was quickly enlisted into Sorensen's five-player leadership group, captaining the Blues on a number of occasions across the campaign. While last season signalled something of a new dawn for Everton on the pitch, it also brought about change of a more personal kind for Hope. The 26-year-old married partner Scott in December and subsequently took the decision to change the name on the back of her shirt from 'Graham' to her married name, Hope.

And the Scot will get the chance to don the Royal Blue shirt again this weekend when Everton host Brighton & Hove Albion at Walton Hall Park. Albion finished 11th in the WSL last term but, after a full pre-season under manager Melissa Phillips, Hope expects the Seagulls to provide stern opposition for the Blues on Sunday.
