'I can’t really say any more than that'
The 61-year-old, who co-presented This Morning with Fern Britton from 2002 to 2009 and later with Holly Willoughby, left the show in May. He later admitted to an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger colleague and stepping down from the broadcaster.
Lorraine, 63, has now addressed the controversy and Holly Willoughby's summer break in a new interview, Birmingham Live reports. When asked if she has given Holly any advice in the wake of the crisis following Mr Schofield’s departure, Lorraine told New magazine: “No, no, honestly, we are so separate. And I haven’t been in [at work], for, gosh, you know, that’s the first time I’ve thought about work."But no, we’re just getting on with it. Honestly, I can’t really say any more than that.
In a statement, Mr Schofield previously said: “I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning. Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship.
