One to be aware of if you're travelling this afternoon
Motorists have been facing long delays on the M1 after a crash this afternoon . Lane four had been shut on the northbound carriageway between junction 24a, for East Midlands Airport, and junction 25, for Nottingham.
The lane is now open again but delays of around 30 minutes and approximately five miles of congestion were reported after it reopened. At this stage, it is not known if anyone has been injured in the collision. National Highways tweeted about the incident shortly before 3pm. A spokesperson said: "Lane four is closed on the M1 northbound between junction 24a and junction 25 due to a collision."National Highways traffic officers and recovery are on scene. There are currently delays of 30 minutes and approximately six miles of congestion."
Shortly before 3.25, the spokesperson confirmed the lane had reopened. "Please allow extra time if travelling in the area as delays of 25 minutes and approximately five miles of congestion remain," they added.
